Reima is one of our favorite winter gear companies for kids. They make gear that’s designed to let kids just be kids and it works incredibly well. It’s extra durable, cleans easily, and always keeps my kids warm, dry, and comfortable, which makes a big difference in the winter.
If you’re looking for winter layers for your kids, you really can’t go wrong with just about anything from Reima. All of the products that I’m sharing below are items that we own and use regularly, and in many cases, these warm winter layers have been passed through several kids. If you have any questions about any of it, I’m happy to help give you more details.

Reima Kids Outerwear
Stavanger Snowsuit
I’m fully convinced this is the best kids snowsuit made! So warm and cozy – our go-to for super cold days. The fabric is extra abrasion resistant so it lasts a really long time!
Kurikka Snowsuit
Very similar to the Stavanger, but with a few different styling options. The material is a little less durable than the Stavanger.
Reach Snowsuit
Perfect for skiing! This snowsuit doesn’t have tapered legs, so it’s easier to pull down over ski and snowboard boots.
Oryon Snowpants
Amazing kids snowpants. The fleece upper keeps kids warm and comfortable and also makes them super easy to put on.
Proxima Snowpants
Classic styling, and just great quality.
Tirrro (boys) and Posio Coats (girls)
We’ve been passing this coat down for years and it’s still in great quality. Love the lycra wrists, the thumb holes, and that it’s incredibly easy to clean!
Tieten (boys) and Perille (girls) Coats
My daughter and one of my sons had these coats last year and they’re so good. The lycra wrists, generously sized hood, and abundance of pockets made them both love this coat!
Paimio Puffy
My daughter’s coat of choice this year, and it’s incredibly warm. It might be the warmest coat in our closet, and I love that it’s also super waterproof, which is rare for a puffy.
Reima Base Layers and Mid Layers
Taitoa Base Layer
Super soft and warm with a combination of wool and bamboo.
Kinsei Base Layer
A classic merino wool base layer, with lots of stretch so you can get plenty of extra wear from it, even as the kids grow.
Northern Hooded Fleece
My boys have been wearing these jackets for 5 winters and they’re one of our favorites. THe kids love them because they’re soft and warm, and I love the knit outer, so it looks a little nicer.
Hopper Fleece
The hopper is very similar to the Northern fleece, but without a hood so it’s easier to layer on top of. This is my top option for a mid-layer jacket from Reima.
Misam Wool Pants
Thick wool pants with a brushed interior. So perfect for really cold days worn over a base layer.
Samota Fleece Hoodie
This fleece is pretty thick and also really warm. It’s a little too bulky to put something on top of, but my son wears it to school every day (biking in the teens and 20’s), and it keeps him super warm.
Reima Snow Boots
I have never found a more diverse line of kids snow boots. THere’s something for everyone and every age of kid. Best of all, these boots are just as good or better than the top winter boot manufacturers.
Quicker Boot
This is a good all-around boot and is perfect for all-day play. My kids love them for running and playing in the snow.
Nefar Boot
Simple pull-on boot – a great option for younger kids.
Coconi Boot
Adjustable velcro straps keep it secure but with a more relaxed fit. Comfortable for long days.
Laplander
The most high tech of all the Reima kids snowboots. These are great for super cold days, and perfect for winter hikes and snowshoeing.
Reima Mittens and Gloves
One of the things that I love most about these mittens and gloves is that they’re really affordable. I feel like I’m getting the quality of a glove that costs twice as much, so they’re an incredible value. If you’re not sure if your kids should be wearing mittens or gloves, part of it is personal preference, but mittens are always warmer than gloves, so keep that in mind when deciding.
Ote Mittens
Simple and waterproof, so easy to put on.
Tartu Gloves
The best basic glove from Reima. These are the ones my kids use for school, backyard play, etc.
Snoukka Mittens
I love these for skiing and really snowy days. Extra warm, and the more rigid longer cuff is excellent for keeping snow out.
Skimba Gloves
My favorite Reima gloves for all day wear. Long wrist cuff, excellent fitting and warm and waterproof.
Aurora Balaclava
Made of merino wool this is my all-time favorite balaclava for kids. It stretches well and keeps kids warm even when they get snot and slobber all over it!
Villaisa Wool Beanie
This wool beanie is fantastic, especially because it has lots of stretch to it, so it stays tight on kids heads all day long!
