My kids love to play outside whenever it rains. I want them to play outside but I hate dealing with everyone’s wet clothes when they come back inside. My kids have great rain jackets that they love to wear, but when it is raining hard their lower body gets soaked with just a jacket. This is especially true when I put my two-year-old in the stroller and her legs and pants get soaked in the rain! If you also struggle with dealing with cleaning up all the wet and muddy clothes and keeping track of all the rain gear. I found the perfect solution! The Tuffo Muddy Buddy Coveralls are great kids’ rain suit on Amazon. A one-piece rain suit has been a game changer for my kids in the rain.
The Tuffo Muddy Buddy Coverall Rain Suits are awesome. They are easy to get on and off and pack up in the included bag to keep in backpacks or the car. They are machine washable so I can easily clean them. Best of all, they keep my kids dry from head to toe and I don’t have to deal with separate pants and jackets.

About the Tuffo Muddy Buddy Coverall
The Tuffo coveralls are made with nylon and have taped seams to keep water out. It has two zippers that extend the length of the rain suit to make it a lot easier to get on and off, especially for bathroom breaks. This makes it really nice for my two-year-old, who is newly potty trained. The elastic ankles make it a little hard to get them on and off over shoes independently, but it is still doable. The hood is excellent! It is a little big so that you can fit a hat underneath if it is a little colder and it has a nice stiff brim to shed water off. Sometimes it did go over my two-year-old’s eyes when she was running around. The best part was when playing in the rain my kids’ faces were dry when they came inside.
The included storage bag is really great. It is made from the same material as the rain suit, so you can pack the rain suit in it without worrying about getting everything else in your car or bag wet. It is fairly compact so you can throw it in your bag or stroller just in case it starts raining without taking up too much space. You could even keep one inside and one in the car just in case.
Tuffo Rainsuit is Budget-Friendly
I am always on the lookout for great gear that still fits within our budget. It can be difficult to find gear that performs well but is also budget-friendly. These rain suits cost about half as much as other brands. They still provide great results. If you are looking for a rain suit for your kids that fits in your budget and keeps them dry, the Tuffo Muddy Buddy Coveralls are a great choice.
How Waterproof is the Muddy Buddy Coverall?
The first time we used the rain suits my kids played outside in the rain for about thirty minutes during a heavy rainstorm. They ran around and jumped in puddles and had a great time! My six-year-old son only had a rain jacket on and was huddled in the corner of the yard trying not to get too wet. My daughters were running around the whole yard not worried about getting wet or cold. When they all came inside the girls that were wearing the rain suits were completely dry under the rain suit. My son who was only wearing a rain jacket was soaked and cold. Since then, they have kept my kids dry every time we have used them.
These don’t have a waterproof rating, but they have kept my kids dry every time so far. The water just beads right off the rain suit. Like any waterproof gear, the rainsuit might need some additional waterproofing over time. If you notice that they ever start losing their waterproofing, you can spray this waterproofing spray on them. I have found that by spraying waterproofing spray on my waterproof gear I can make them last even longer so I can hand them down to the next kid.
Best Sizing for Tuffo Rainsuits
These rain suits come in sizes 12 months to 5t. They were designed to be loose-fitting to fit layers underneath on colder days. Even so, they run large. I ordered a 3t and 5t and they both were too big for my kids. If you want the rain suit to be more fitted I would size down for your child. I think that the rain suits will easily last two years in the size I got for my girls. If you live in a place where you need to be able to layer easily then I would get their usual size. The rain suits only go up to a size 5t, so they won’t fit big kids. Because the rainsuit runs large I think we could get my six-year-old son a 5t and it would still fit him great.
Durability and Care of Muddy Buddy Coveralls
The Tuffo coveralls aren’t made from the thickest material so if you are willing to spend more money for something even more durable then I would suggest looking at the Oakiwear rainsuit. The Tuffo coveralls are perfect for everyday use while I would suggest the Oakiwear for more intense outdoor experiences such as rafting, hiking in a very wet environment, or extended time in heavy rain. You can read a review about Oakiwear rainsuits here. The knees and bottom of the Tuffo coveralls are reinforced with a little thicker fabric to help with durability.
When comparing the Oakiwear rain suit and the Tuffo rain suit, Oakiwear is made for more extreme outdoor activities while the Tuffo rain suits are lightweight and flexible which is ideal for everyday outside play. The Tuffo coverall rain suit is also a much more budget-friendly option.
The rain suit is also machine washable. After playing in the rain and mud it is really nice that I can throw it in the washing machine without worrying about ruining it. Make sure to wash it cold and hang it to dry to make it last even longer.
The Versatility of Muddy Buddy Rainsuit
Since the Tuffo Muddy Buddy Coveralls run large you can easily add layers underneath. A mid-layer or baselayer would work great underneath the rain suit. The rain suits were very easy to move around in. From what I can tell the rainsuit is made from breathable fabric. My kids were running and jumping all over the place and they didn’t complain about being too hot. Although there aren’t any reflective elements on the rainsuit they do come in very bright colors to help with visibility.
When it gets colder you could easily fit a puffy jacket and some snow boots underneath. The elasticized ankles are perfect to fit over rain, hiking boots, or snow boots to keep feet warm and dry. My kids can’t walk past a puddle without jumping in it.
Other Features of Coveralls
The Tuffo Muddy Buddy Coveralls come in a variety of colorful options. This is really useful when there isn’t great lighting. The bright, vibrant colors help with visibility.
I also liked how convenient the rain suits were to get on. They were really easy to get on and off with the two zippers. My four-year-old was able to get hers off all by herself. It even comes with a storage bag made from the same material to make it easier to throw it in the car or a backpack. I really like how the hood, wrists, and ankles are elasticized to keep the water out.
Summary
Before finding the Tuffo rainsuit I relied on rain jackets and umbrellas for my kids. Whenever they would play in the rain their legs would be soaked. None of these compared to the ease and full body coverage that the Tuffo Muddy Buddy Coverall rain suit offers. Now I can easily walk to the school without worrying about keeping my two-year-old dry in the stroller and we don’t have to wait in the crazy pick-up lines when it rains.
Overall, I would definitely recommend the Tuffo coveralls. They are the perfect solution to letting your kids play outside or during the walk to school in the rain. They are easy to get on and off, waterproof, colorful, and machine washable. I don’t know how durable they will be long-term with the thinner fabric, but I don’t think you can beat the price for what you get.
So far, my kids have loved using these and I have loved not having to change their clothes every time they go outside to play in the rain. I plan on buying another one as soon as my baby will fit in the 12-month size.
